8 Water Infused Drinks you’ll Love
Are you bored with drinking plain water? This clear liquid is still the best stuff on earth for our longevity. And really what quenches thirst better than a cold water right out of the refrigerator! But for some folks drinking water everyday is a struggle. That seems so strange because our bodies are comprised of water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.
So, what makes it so dang hard at times to drink enough to stay hydrated?
I call it a “sweet tooth”; I’m speaking from experience here. Have you ever noticed when you eat a super sweet cookie, piece of cake, or ice cream Sunday that your taste buds become used to the sweetness? It’s like your palette is expecting it every time. Then when you eat something less sugary it’s kind of a disappointment.
It’s the same deal with water. The more sweet drinks you consume, the less you enjoy water. It seems boring in comparison.
Stay hydrated infused water! These fruit and herb combinations will encourage you to drink more water. Citrus, berries, melons, fresh ginger, and mint are all good choices. You can float the ingredients freely in water or use an infusion pitcher.
Fast facts about infused water:
- You can eat the fruit after infusing water, however it may taste less sweet than you think because it loses flavor as it fills up with water.
- Infused water is best 2 to 4 hours after you’ve made it. You can also let it infuse overnight in the refrigerator. Some ingredients have more longevity than others.
- Infused water is healthy for you – use filtered water and organic fruit/vegetables for maximum nutritional benefits
